Library & Reading Room

A well-stocked library is an asset to the school, college and university. Our college library has in stock more than 24,982 Volumes and 19,763 Titles covering a variety of subjects including all the subjects of the course, Bound Journals 194, Dissertation and Thesis 180  and  subscribing to more than 27 periodicals and giving a good reading atmosphere to the readers. It is situated on the right side of the first floor spread over 3,500 sq.feet with a seating capacity of 100.
 
Library Automation:                          
Library Services are computerized and automated by using Easylib library management software.
 
Classification:
The books are properly catalogued and arranged subjects-wise. All books are classified in accordance with subject matter by using Colon Classification.

Reference Section:
The library also offers reference Service. Encyclopaedias, Dictionaries, Yearbooks and important books including standard text books covering all the subjects of the course are kept in the student reference cupboard. Student teachers are free to use these books in the library itself.  Books belonging to this section are not issued for home reading.
 
 
Periodical Section:
College subscribes for about 27 periodicals out of which most of them are pertaining to Education.  Periodicals are displayed on the special racks in the library. The latest issue of every periodical is displayed on the slating plank of the periodical rack, while directly below the plank are kept the previous issues for the current volume. The college also subscribes Newspapers like Udayavani,  and the Hindu.
 
Rules and Regulations governing the use of the college library:
1.      The library shall remain open on all the working days of the college from 9.00 a.m. to
5.00 p.m.on weekdays and 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on Saturdays.
2.      All the student-teachers entering the Library shall keep their bags and other personal belongings at the entrance. Only notebooks and the Library books will be allowed inside.
3.      Using Cell phone are strictly prohibited in the library.
4.      Conversation and discussion disturbs library ambience. Therefore, all are requested to maintain dignified silence within the library.
5.      Students teachers can borrow Four books at time for a period of 10 days and Two time renewals..  If the books are not returned on the due date, an overdue charge of 1.00 Rs.  Per day will be charged for the period of the books are kept beyond the date.
6.      In case of any book is lost the reader shall replace the book or shall pay the cost of replacement, if the book is one of the volume of set, the reader may be asked to replace the whole set.
7 Reference Documents like Dictionary, Encyclopaedia, Year Books, Journals (Loose & Bound), Theses, Project Reports, Census, Handbooks will not be issued out.
8.      No paper and Magazine should be taken out of the reading room.
9.      No damage or abuse of the papers or magazine should be done.
10.  Old issues of the magazine, News papers can be taken with the prior permission of the principal / librarian
11.  The Library reserves the right to call back any issued book at any time.
12 All the student teachers who want to return the books issued on their names are advised to wait until the books are shown as cancelled against their names.
    
SUGGESTIONS FOR CARE AND HANDLING OF LIBRARY BOOKS
                                                     
1)      Don’t leave the book on the table. and  put the book with its face down
2)      Read with clean hands
3)      Keep the book close to you
4)      Turn the pages carefully so as not to tear the pages
5)      Use a bookmark
6)      Keep the book away from pets and small children
7)      Keep the books away from food and beverages
8)      Handle books carefully especially when photocopying and scanning
9)      Carry the book correctly
10)  Finally protect books taken on loan from rain, dust, oil and fire.
